Choosing Another Day
There are times in recovery when the pain can feel so overwhelming that you simply want it to stop. This meditation was created for those moments—for anyone who has found themselves thinking about suicide or wondering if there is a way through the darkness.
Drawing from his own experience with alcoholism and suicidal thoughts, Jeff Ramsey speaks with honesty, empathy, and an understanding of what it can feel like to reach a place of deep despair. He offers another possibility: instead of making an irreversible decision, pause, breathe, and give yourself another day.
Through visualization, breath, and meditation, this practice invites you to reconnect with a deeper sense of peace, love, and the part of you that is still here. It is not about pretending that the pain isn't real. It is about staying with yourself long enough to discover that the pain does not have to be the end of your story.
If you are in immediate danger or believe you may act on thoughts of suicide, please seek professional or emergency help rather than relying on this meditation alone.
