Happy, Joyous, and Free Meditation

When I first came into the Rooms of AA, it was amazing, and then became a little irritating, how happy, joyous, and free these people were; they even used those exact words in their book! I knew nothing of even the meaning of those words in my life, much less what it might feel like. They were joking and kidding with one another, celebrating someone’s new job, comforting another going through a divorce. They were actually concerned for each other! These people had every day what I envisioned a happy family at Christmas time might be.

My entire world had become so small: it was me, centered around me and focusing upon me. Without even understanding it, I was ensnared in and living…pardon me, existing…a life arranged and maintained by The Cosmic Law of Attraction! It was a very lonely place, and one which you might be able to identify with. The world around me was war-torn and filthy. There were no niceties or comforts, only ugly things to run from. At the time, I did not know this was all of my own creation, nor that all of these horrors I had surrounded myself with could be anquished, dispensed with, immediately! But then I was not one to take the easy or swift road through recovery.

I offer you here a way to cut through some of the illusions of addiction (and Recovery!). There is only one reason why my recovery took so long: ME! Don’t you fall into the same hole in the road! A dear friend from East India once said to me “Everything is illusion! Therefore, if you are going to fall for one, make it a GOOD one!” Let’s get out of some of the suffering and guilt and pain and see about some Happy, Joyous and Free.

Let’s prepare for meditation…
